Hair Care: Great Tips Everyone Can Use

Many people aren’t pleased by their hair. This is mainly because people aren’t giving their hair the attention it needs. Even if this applies to you, then you should use this article to help you care for your hair in the proper way.

Maintaining a healthy body will give you healthy hair. Eating foods with good nutritional value and getting all of the water that your body needs can dramatically improve the quality of your hair. You should also eat a healthy and balanced diet to make sure your hair stays strong and healthy.

If you are a frequent ponytail wearer, don’t place the ponytail on the same spot every time. If you repeatedly wear your hair in a ponytail, your hair is likely to break. If you have to pull all of your hair back because of work, or for other reasons, try to pull it down for a little while every day.

If you notice your hair looking dry, there is a home conditioning treatment you can try. Wash your hair and wring out most of the water. Then apply conditioner liberally, put on a cap and let it sit for 10 minutes. This way, heat is generated and the conditioner is able to get further into your hair follicles.

When towel drying never briskly rub your hair. This can damage your hair, causing frizz and breakage. Instead, try to treat your hair gently by patting it lightly, squeezing it with ease or wrapping it in a cotton towel. Also, you should not use a brush or comb on wet hair, unless the comb is wide-toothed.

Blow Dryer

Try to reduce the amount of times you use a blow dryer. Hot air from a blow dryer can really damage your hair, so try to let it dry naturally whenever possible. If you have to use your blow dryer, make sure it stays on the coolest setting, and avoid holding it over one section of hair for too long. If you towel dry your hair before you blow dry it, the hair will dry more quickly.

A satin pillowcase can be used if you want to protect your curly hair at night. Cotton pillowcases dry your hair by absorbing all the moisture and oils. Satin pillowcases will protect hair, and let you wake in the morning with similar curls to the ones you slept with. You could also use a scarf or a satin bonnet as well.

Combing and brushing your hair will stimulate hair growth by breaking up any loose skin on the scalp. In addition, it breaks up clogged pores that could be preventing hair growth. Try to brush your hair for about 100 strokes every day, so you stimulate growth of hair.

Never use a rough approach when towel drying your hair. Using a heavy hand can promote breakage of the hair. Gently squeeze out excess moisture, instead. Once you have removed most of the water you can then gently pat it down with the towel. Try not to use rough towels; softer ones are better.

Keep in mind that the hair changes as you age. Your hair may become drier, more brittle or more gray. For some, their hair’s texture may change completely, with curly hair becoming straight, or straight hair going curly. If alterations in hair texture have left you feeling alarmed, consult with a physician.

Blow Dryer

To lessen the amount of time your hair has to be dried with a blow dryer, you should dry it as much as possible with a towel. Drying and styling your hair with heat can be very damaging. Hair can look dull and damaged after excessive blow-drying removes the moisture and natural oils that keep individual strands of hair looking their best. Using a towel to dry your hair as thoroughly as possible is a smart idea since it is less damaging to your hair than the heat of a blow dryer.

Just like you protect your skin from sun damage, you need to keep your hair from sun damage, too. Always use a hat or spray that protects your hair when you are outdoors in the sun and wind. As an added benefit you will be protecting your scalp from the damage caused by the sun. Also, color-treated hair tends to fade faster in the hot sun.

Hair care products like sprays and gel should not be applied directly to the scalp. That will cause pores to plug, and can cause hair growth problems and pimples on the scalp. Make sure these products only touch your hair.

Wet Hair

Avoid brushing wet hair. Wet hair is very vulnerable to damage. To avoid damage, only brush when your hair is dry or when it’s only slightly damp. If you feel like you need to brush your hair out, only use a comb with wide teeth.

If you have curly hair, you should limit the amount of time you wash your hair to around two times a week. Curly hair needs oil to help give it shine, and over washing it can be harmful. Ensure that you have rinsed out all the shampoo from your hair each time you wash it, as well.

If you are using a curling iron or a blow dryer, make sure you are using a spray that protects your hair from heat while you are styling it. Though they are sometimes geared toward curly and frizzy hair, they can be beneficial for all heat-styled hair. These sprays will keep your individual hairs, smooth and sleek.

You now should have a strong idea about how you will treat your hair. It is wise to have a plan before making any actions. Take some time to think about the hair care advice you plan to implement so you can improve the condition of your hair.
